  TG-G vs TG-GH grinding wheel

  The surface characteristics and self-sharpening performance of two types of microtextured brazed diamond end grinding wheels were compared in this study. The TG-G scheme only ablates microgrooves, whereas the TG-GH scheme ablates both microgrooves and microholes. Both schemes have comparable surface plasticity, but the TG-GH performs better in terms of self-sharpening.

  Using a pulsed laser, microtextures were first ablated on the diamond grains. This was followed by meticulous brazing to make end grinding wheels. These brazed wheels were then mounted on a toolholder and machined at a feed rate of 100 mm/s.

  The monocrystal diamond (111) plane is a cleavage plane for abrasive diamonds. A cleavage plane is an abrasive grain void or hollow space.   TG-GH has more ductile regions
